Seasonal summer temperatures into next week; skimpy rain chances
Scattered showers popped up very early on Tuesday and cruised southeast down the I-94 corridor across the Twin Cities. Other showers briefly dampened parts of the southeastern and southwestern corners.
Lovely Tuesday
Now the clouds are breaking and a pleasant Tuesday is underway. Look for high temperatures from the mid 70s in the far north around Ely and International Falls to the low and mid 80s in the south.
The Twin Cities should be just about normal for late July with an afternoon high around 84. The dew point climbed a bit as the showers added moisture to the air but should slip back down during the day thanks to atmospheric mixing. Winds will be light.

Shower possibilities
Some afternoon showers are likely in far southern Minnesota and in the Arrowhead with the heating of the day.
Pleasant seasonal temperatures continue
The rest of the week should bring more of the same temperatures with little variation from day to day. Highs will be mainly in the 70s across northern Minnesota with widespread low to mid 80s for the southern half of the state for most days through Sunday. Friday is likely to be a bit warmer statewide.
Thunderstorm chances build to our west
While we will be able to enjoy more great bicycling/running/walking weather for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, a weather system is forecast to crank up showers and probably thunderstorms across the Dakotas on Friday.
Some of those storms can be expected to reach Minnesota Friday night and on Saturday as we roll into August.
Sunday will likely be the better day of the weekend for outdoor activities.
Adding up any likely precipitation over the next seven days shows that Minnesota is likely to remain nearly dry, especially when compared to the inches of rain forecast to fall across the mid-Mississippi Valley states.
