A cold front brings changing weather Friday

Rain moves into northwestern Minnesota

Most of Minnesota remains dry and comfortable Friday, but a cold front will bring the northwestern corner of the state showers and storms by afternoon.

Friday’s forecast

Much like the past couple days, Friday is starting off mostly in the 50s and 60s, with a few 40s, especially in the northeastern corner of the state. Areas of fog from about Brainerd to Hibbing lift quickly Friday morning.  Most of the state can expect highs in the low to mid-80s under predominantly sunny skies.

The one exception to this is northwestern Minnesota.  Ahead of a cold front, the wind flow is out of the south and southeast, so that corner of the state is already warmer and could see highs in the upper 80s, along with higher humidity.  The cold front starts to move in Friday evening, making showers and storms possible for northwestern Minnesota by afternoon.

Precipitation is expected to stay relative light, with most places seeing under a half inch of rain and a few localized higher amounts.
As the cold front makes its way across the rest of Minnesota Saturday, much of the state sees a chance for wet weather.
That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
