Wet weather disrupts part of the weekend

Noticeably cooler temperatures next week

The uneventful weather trend of the past few days will be interrupted as a cold front brings showers and storms across the state. Behind the front, cooler weather settles in and quiet weather returns.

A cold front moves in

Much like the past couple days, Friday started with temperatures ranging from 40s northeast to 60s south and west. Most of the state sees highs in the low to mid-80s under predominantly sunny skies Friday, except northwestern Minnesota.

Ahead of a cold front, the wind flow is out of the south and southeast and will be breezy, so that corner of the state gets some highs in the upper 80s, along with higher humidity.

A cold front starts to move into Minnesota Friday evening, making showers and storms possible for northwestern Minnesota by the afternoon.

As the cold front makes its way across the rest of Minnesota Saturday, much of the state sees a chance for wet weather. For the Twin Cities, the most likely time to see showers and storms is Saturday afternoon, but spotty precipitation could linger into Saturday night.

Some isolated activity could linger in southern Minnesota into Sunday before all the wet weather finally clears out.

Precipitation is expected to stay relatively light, with most places seeing under one-half inch of rain and a few localized higher amounts. It also looks light severe weather chances should stay minimal.

Cool, dry air returns

After the 80s Friday, temperatures start to cool some on Saturday as the cold front passes through, with more 70s and 80s. By Sunday, cooler air settles across the state and highs will be in the 70s, with a few 60s possible in the Arrowhead.

Once the cooler air settles in, it sticks around. Much of the state will see highs in the 70s, with overnight lows in the 50s and a few 40s, for the majority of the week.

Under the influence of high pressure, drier air also returns, with no significant rain chances until late-week.
