Hot and humid weather returns by Friday

Spotty rain chances through Thursday

A weak disturbance brings showers and a few storms across Minnesota into Thursday, then the heat and humidity return for the weekend along with more chances for storms.

Wednesday and Thursday

A weather disturbance is already bringing isolated showers and more clouds to southwestern Minnesota as of Wednesday morning.

The clouds and chances for spotty showers and storms spread across most of the state through the day, with precipitation chances lowering as you get farther north.

The rain will stay predominantly light, with most of the state seeing under a tenth of an inch, and a few slightly higher totals in southern Minnesota where rain coverage could be more scattered and rain chances last longer.

Because of limited daytime heating, the possibility for severe weather remains slim, with only isolated chances in southwestern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon.

Minnesota started off cool again Wednesday, with morning lows in the 40s and 50s, but by Thursday morning the cloud cover will keep temperatures milder in the 50s and 60s to start the day.

Highs remain slightly below average, with almost all of Minnesota in the 70s Wednesday.

Most of the state stays in the 70s Thursday as well, although parts of northern and western Minnesota could see a few 80s as those areas see more sunshine Thursday.

Heat and storm chances return

The disturbance moving through Wednesday has also shifted our wind flow back out of the south. That southerly flow will draw warmer, more humid air back across Minnesota putting highs for most of the state back in the 80s by Friday.

A few spots in southern Minnesota could even see low 90s over the weekend. Overnight lows also continue to warm, with most of the state seeing milder lows in the 60s by Friday.

Here is that temperature trend for the Twin Cities, showing warming highs and lows:

Humidity also climbs, and by Saturday, parts of Minnesota will likely see some very sticky dew points back in the 70s.

A few more rounds of unsettled weather also move across the state from Friday afternoon through Monday, bringing scattered showers and storms, but also plenty of dry breaks.

Some storms over the weekend could bring heavier rain, particularly for central and northern Minnesota where the rain could be more widespread at times.
