Intense storms drop heavy rain, large hail
Spotty, but very intense, thunderstorms set several single-day rainfall records recently. MPR News host Cathy Wurzer checked in with retired University of Minnesota climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley about the latest wild weather.
Sunday, Aug. 9 was one of the busiest severe weather days the weather service has had all year, Seeley said. Storm systems brought large hail to 15 different counties, and a tornado briefly touched down near Thief River Falls.
