Rain chances remain isolated this week

Temperatures stay seasonable in some spots, rises for others

The week ahead remains relatively quiet, although chances for a few showers and storms increase as the week progresses.

Monday and Tuesday

High pressure sitting over the northern Midwest is bringing very stable conditions across Minnesota.

This means dry weather and mostly sunny skies prevail statewide Monday, with just a few more clouds Tuesday.

Highs Monday will be in the 70s for most of the state, which is just slightly below average for mid-August, with the exception of southwestern Minnesota, which is likely to see more 80s.

Under clear skies overnight, much of Minnesota sees lows in the 50s Tuesday morning, followed by highs mostly in the 80s.

A disturbance clipping the northern edge of the state brings a very isolated chance for showers and storms Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Extended forecast

As the high pressure slowly slides east and away from the state, minor disturbances make their way into Minnesota, bringing occasional spotty chances for showers and storms from Wednesday through the end of the week.

Currently, it does not look like severe weather is very likely, nor is widespread heavy rain. Here is the forecast rainfall through Saturday morning, showing most of the state seeing light rain chances and the Arrowhead possibly seeing some totals over a half-inch of rain.
