The weather across Minnesota has turned warm and humid once more, and storm chances increase as we head toward the weekend.
Thursday’s forecast
The state started very warm Thursday, with most temperatures in the 60s and only a few 50s. Highs will also be 5 to 10 degrees above average, with most of the state in the 80s, and a few 90s in western Minnesota.
Humidity has also increased, meaning much of southern Minnesota will see the heat index top 90 by afternoon. Most of the state, including the Twin Cities, sees another dry and sunny day.
Due to higher instability, minor disturbances have been moving through northern Minnesota bringing occasional wet weather across that part of the state. That pattern continues Thursday, including showers and storms in the Arrowhead as of 8:30 a.m.

Widespread activity returns
The occasional rounds of wet weather in northern Minnesota continue into Friday. Then, by Friday afternoon, showers and storms start spreading across the state as an area of low pressure traverses northern Minnesota.
Precipitation clears out west to east through Saturday as the system moves off.
As the activity moves through, there is an isolated chance for a few strong or severe storms, with high winds and hail as the primary risk.
For the Twin Cities, the current timing is a chance for showers and storms from late Friday through Saturday afternoon. Most of the state turns dry again by Sunday, although northern Minnesota could see another round of wet weather move through Sunday evening.
Temperatures stay warm
Friday stays warm and humid much like Thursday, with highs predominantly in the 80s and a few 90s in southwestern Minnesota. Temperatures dip slightly Saturday behind the weather system that moves through, although much of the state still stays in the 80s for the weekend.
