Scattered showers and storms move across most of Minnesota by Friday evening, bringing an isolated chance for severe weather.
Friday’s forecast
Minnesota is off to another very warm start Friday, with most of the state in the 60s. Thanks to the return of more humid air, there are also areas of morning fog in central and northern portions of the state, which will burn-off by mid-morning. Highs run 5 to 10 degrees above average again, with most of the state in the 80s, and 70s closer to the North Shore.
While most of the state is starting Friday dry, there are a few showers and storms in southern Minnesota as of 7 a.m. the will continue to clear east through the morning.
More widespread showers and storms move into northern Minnesota by afternoon along with a weather system that will move across the state. That wet weather spreads across most of the state by late Friday.
There is an isolated chance for severe weather with the storms. Any strong storms would be most likely to produce larger hail or high winds, with a very low risk for tornadoes.
The wet weather moves out by late Saturday, while warm weather continues. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
