A storm system moving across Minnesota brings more active weather Friday and Saturday, then the heat returns early next week for parts of the state.
Friday and Saturday
Minnesota started off very mild again Friday and will do the same Saturday, with most temperatures in the 60s.
Northern and central Minnesota have also had areas of fog Friday morning, which will clear by late morning. The state stays 5-10 degrees above average Friday, with most of the highs in the 80s.

While much of the state is starting Friday dry, there are a few showers and storms in southern Minnesota as of 9 a.m. that continue to clear east through the morning.

More widespread showers and storms move into northern Minnesota by afternoon along with a weather system moving across the state. That wet weather spreads across most of the state by late Friday, then clears out west to east Saturday.

For the Twin Cities, the mostly likely time to see possible activity is late Friday through Saturday afternoon.
There is an isolated chance for severe weather as the storms move through. Any strong storms would most likely to produce larger hail or high winds, with a very low risk for tornadoes.
Rainfall remains light for most areas, with much of the state expecting under one-half inch of precipitation.

Extended forecast
Behind the weather system moving through, temperatures dip slightly Saturday and Sunday, but highs still remain in the 80s for most of the state.
Early next week, while northern Minnesota stays seasonable, temperatures climb again in southern Minnesota, bringing upper 80s and possibly a few 90s.
Here is that temperature trend for the Twin Cities through Tuesday:

Precipitation chances currently look spotty, in the week ahead, but there is another chance for scattered showers and storms in northern Minnesota already Sunday night.
