Dangerous heat continues Wednesday, and central Minnesota sees a risk for severe weather.
Wednesday’s forecast
The recent hot weather has all of Minnesota starting warm again Wednesday, with most of the state in the 60s and 70s. Afternoon temperatures will also be hotter than Tuesday for most of Minnesota, with 90s for southern and central Minnesota and 80s north.
Because of the heat combined with humidity, a heat advisory is in effect for the southeastern corner of the state from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. for temperatures that will feel like 95 to 105 degrees.
The hot weather is due to a lingering warm front, but later Wednesday a cold front starts moving across Minnesota, which increases our storms chances. There are already a few showers and storms in northern Minnesota as of 7 a.m. and spotty activity is possible through the day for central and northern Minnesota.

More widespread activity is likely this evening, including the risk for severe weather, especially in central Minnesota.
For the Twin Cities, the most likely timing for any storms is late Wednesday night.
More severe weather is possible Thursday, this time for southern Minnesota. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
