Before I get to the weekend forecast, I’ll mention the thunderstorm chances this evening and overnight. Some strong to severe thunderstorms could spread across parts of central and southern Minnesota and portions of Wisconsin this Thursday evening and overnight Thursday night. Our thunderstorm chance in the Twin Cities metro area is mainly after 11 p.m. and into Friday morning.
The NWS Storm Prediction Center shows an enhanced risk (beige-shaded) of severe weather this Thursday evening and overnight Thursday night for southwestern Minnesota and parts of west-central Minnesota:
There’s a slight risk (shaded yellow) of severe thunderstorms elsewhere in southern and central Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin. Slight risk indicates that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible, while enhanced risk means that numerous severe thunderstorms are possible:
Some areas could also receive heavy rainfall amounts overnight and early Friday.

The weekend
Comfortable temps and dew points are on tap for the weekend. Saturday highs will be mainly in the 70s:
In case you’re wondering, our average Twin Cities high temp is 78 degrees on August 29. The Saturday forecast high of 76 degrees in the metro area is just slightly below average.

Dry for most of the weekend
The daylight hours of the coming weekend look rain-free in most areas. A few scattered showers and thunderstorm could move into northwestern Minnesota late Sunday afternoon, then spread southeastward Sunday evening and Sunday night.
