Most of Minnesota starts sunny and dry, then clouds increase and the state ends the day with widespread showers and storms.
Friday’s forecast
Minnesota is beginning the day Friday with mostly clear skies, and temperatures that are a few degrees milder than the past couple mornings. Lows are predominantly in the 30s from the Arrowhead into central Minnesota and 40s west and south. Most of the state can expect highs in the 60s again.
Southern Minnesota may see a few more 50s, because that is the one part of the state starting cloudier, and will have less sunshine to help temperatures rise on Friday.
Those clouds in southern Minnesota spread north through the day as the next weather system approaches.
Into the afternoon, cloudy skies make it through central Minnesota, with rain across the southern edge of the state. By the end of Friday, clouds, showers and a few storms extend all the way through northern Minnesota.
The precipitation slowly clears Saturday, and temperatures continue to rise early next week. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
