You’ve heard the mention of rain in our weekend forecast. Here’s the timing of those rain chances.
Showers and possibly a few embedded thunderstorms will move into portions of southwestern and west-central Minnesota Friday afternoon.
Rain and some embedded thunderstorms will then spread northeastward to cover much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin as we go through Friday evening and overnight.
Showers and an isolated thunderstorm could linger in Minnesota and western Wisconsin Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon, the best chance of rain shifts into northern parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, with just spotty shower chances in the south.

Weekend high temps and dew points
Our average Twin Cities high temp on Sept. 12 is 73 degrees. We’re shooting for metro area highs in the mid 60s Saturday, with highs in the 60s expected over most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
There will be some 50s in northeastern Minnesota.
Saturday dew points will be in the 50s:
Sunday high temps reach the 70s in roughly the southern half of Minnesota, plus much of western Wisconsin:
Sunday dew points will be in the very dry 40s to the north, with 50s elsewhere:
Fall colors?
We are seeing some very spotty fall colors in the Twin Cities metro area, but our peak fall colors don’t typically arrive in the metro area until sometime in October.
How about northern Minnesota? Here’s the latest fall color report from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources:
The fall color map is updated weekly, and you can expect some big changes in the the next two to four weeks as fall colors spread across Minnesota.
