Frost likely up north Sunday night; warmup continues Monday and Tuesday
Sunday has been a very pleasant day across Minnesota as the chilly temperatures of the past week have been left behind. Smoke from western wildfires has been responsible for hazy skies above central and southern Minnesota.
A few isolated sprinkles are possible in east central Minnesota Sunday evening as a weak disturbance crosses the area.
Frosty Monday morning up north
A frost advisory has been posted for parts of north central and northeastern Minnesota for Sunday night into Monday morning.

Warmup will continue
Monday will be a dry and warmer day under protective high pressure. Tuesday will feel positively summerlike as warmer flow develops on the back side of that sprawling high pressure.
The Twin Cities should warm into the upper 70s on Monday and the low 80s on Tuesday.
The warmest temperatures for the state this week will likely be mid 80s in the Buffalo Ridge area of southwestern Minnesota on Tuesday.
Another cooldown later in the week
Much cooler weather will return beginning on Thursday and continuing through at least Saturday. High temperatures on Thursday are likely to be mainly from the mid 50s in the north to the low and mid 60s in the Twin Cities and the south.
Very active tropical Atlantic
The tropical Atlantic continues to be much more active than usual as we reach the heart of the hurricane and tropical storm season. This Sunday afternoon there are seven tropical systems of varying intensities between western Africa and the Gulf of Mexico.
Tropical Storm Sally
Tropical Storm Sally is tracking west-northwest over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and is forecast to intensify and spread hurricane conditions into southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi by early Tuesday. Hurricane warnings have been posted for that area including New Orleans for hurricane winds, heavy rain and significant flash flooding as a result of the storm’s slow movement.
Hurricane Paulette
Hurricane Paulette continues to strengthen as it approaches Bermuda. Winds are likely to gust to more than 100 mph across the island later Sunday night. Heavy rain and dangerous storm surges are also likely. On the forecast track map below, Bermuda is located beneath the small red area along the track that indicates a hurricane warning.
