After a frosty start north, Minnesota returns to seasonable highs Monday under sunny but hazy skies.
Monday’s Forecast
Monday morning temperatures are ranging from low 30s north, keeping northern Minnesota in a frost advisory until 9 a.m., to 50s south.
Under sunshine and a south to southeasterly wind flow Monday afternoon, northern Minnesota warms to average highs for mid-September, in the 60s. Western and southern Minnesota see slightly above average temperatures with 70s and even a few 80s in the southwestern corner of the state.
The state is starting off with a few patches of fog Monday morning, particularly in central and southwestern Minnesota, which lift by midmorning.

Although skies will be mostly sunny, smoke from the fires in the western United States is filtering into the upper air across Minnesota.
While it currently looks like the smoke stays aloft and shouldn’t cause major air quality issues, it will make for hazy sunshine at times.
Warmer weather is expected Tuesday, before temperatures tumble again the second half of the week.
