After a cold start, the state stays 10 to 15 degrees below average all of Friday.
Friday’s forecast
Behind a cold front Thursday, Friday is starting off cold for this time of year. Morning lows are in the 20s and 30s, with the coldest weather in locations that saw skies clear overnight (barbs on the map show light winds and their direction).
Because of the cold weather, most of western Minnesota is under a Freeze warning, with southern Minnesota under a Frost Advisory, all until 8 a.m.
Even under a bit more sunshine, most of the state makes it only into the 40s for highs, which is 10 to 15 degrees below average for early October.
However, unlike the past two days, winds remain very light Friday, so there will not be a wind chill to make it feel even colder.
After continued colder weather over the weekend, temperatures make it back into the 60s next week.
