Weekend forecast: Chilly, with a Saturday shower chance; a few flakes up north

Fall color update for leaf-peepers

If you don’t like our chilly weather, hang in there. Highs will rebound into the 60s in many areas Monday and Tuesday, with some 70s possible in southwestern Minnesota.

Friday night/early Saturday lows will be in the 30s across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. There will even be some 20s in north-central and northeastern Minnesota.

Southwestern Minnesota may creep into the lower 50s. Twin Cities metro area highs are forecast to reach the upper 40s to around 50 on Saturday, which is well below our average Oct. 3 high of 64 degrees.

Sunday highs reach the lower 50s in many locations, with some upper 40s in parts of northeastern Minnesota:

Winds will be light in most areas this weekend, although it could become a bit breezy in northwestern Minnesota Sunday afternoon.

Saturday/Saturday night shower chances

Some areas of rain showers are possible late Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night. Far northern Minnesota could see some snowflakes mixed with the patchy rain showers, especially Saturday morning.

Sunday looks dry in most areas, with a lingering shower possible in far southern Minnesota Sunday morning.
