It’s been chilly lately, and jacket weather will stay with us through this weekend. I notice some interesting clothing combinations this time of year, such as warm jackets combined with shorts and sandals.
Saturday details
Our average Oct. 3 high temp is 64 degrees in the Twin Cities. We’ll probably top out around 50 degrees or slightly above 50 this Saturday afternoon in the metro area. Similar Saturday highs are expected across much of central and southern Minnesota, plus parts of western Wisconsin. Far northern Minnesota will have highs in the 40s. Winds will be light in most areas.
Occasional scattered showers or sprinkles are possible this Saturday in roughly the southern two-thirds of Minnesota plus portions of northeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Temperature trends
Winds will remain light overnight, so radiational cooling will drop lows into the 30s in most areas late Saturday night/early Sunday morning:
Far northern Minnesota will have lows in the 20s. If you’ve been covering tender plants to help them survive chilly overnight temps, you’ll want to do it again Saturday evening.
Sunday highs will range from the lower 50s in northeastern Minnesota to the upper 50s in the southwest:
Highs in the 60s return to most areas on Monday, with some 70s in southwestern and west-central Minnesota:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the upper 60s on Monday, then around 70 Tuesday, followed by mid 60s Wednesday and Thursday and lower 70s on Friday.
Warmer than normal temps may linger next weekend into the start of the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a strong tendency for above-normal temps in Minnesota and Wisconsin from Oct. 10 through Oct. 16:
