Cold but relatively quiet weather for Friday

Southeastern Minnesota starts the day under a Freeze Warning

Friday remains colder than average with a few sprinkles or flurries possible, especially in the morning hours.

Friday’s forecast

Minnesota is starting the day chilly again, with 20s north and 30s south. Because of below freezing temperatures across most of the southeastern corner of the state, that area is under a freeze warning until 8 a.m.

Although temperatures are also freezing in other parts of Minnesota, the rest of the state has already had cold enough weather to deem the growing season over, therefore freeze warnings are no longer issued elsewhere in Minnesota.

Highs stay cool and about 10 to 15 degrees below average Friday, in the 30s north and 40s south.

A disturbance that moved through overnight is bringing enough instability for a few isolated sprinkles or flurries, especially during the morning hours. But overall, it will stay mostly dry with partly sunny skies.

A much more potent storm starts moving in overnight Friday, and could bring significant snowfall to portions of Minnesota Saturday.

That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
