Chilly Sunday as winds slowly taper off; warmup begins Monday

60s return Tuesday

It’s a good thing that we went back to standard time last night. The extra hour of potential sleep helped make up for the times that strong winds rattled our windows and woke us up.

Peak wind gusts included 56 mph at 9:20 p.m. Saturday at Holman Field Airport in St. Paul::

The Duluth NWS office is checking into this wind report from northeastern Minnesota Sunday morning:

Chilly today, then a nice warmup

High temps are expected to be in the 30s Sunday afternoon across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A few spots in southwestern Minnesota could reach the lower 40s. Twin Cities metro area highs are forecast to reach the upper 30s, with a stray 40 possible. That’s well below our average Nov. 1 high of 50 degrees.

Monday highs will range from the 40s in northeastern Minnesota to lower 60s in far southwestern Minnesota:

Metro area highs will be in the low-to-mid 50s.

Even warmer highs are on tap for Election Day on Tuesday:

Highs in the 60s are expected in the Twin Cities metro area and much of southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon, with 50s to the north. I don’t see any weather problems in Minnesota or western Wisconsin on Tuesday.

Twin Cities highs metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 60s Wednesday through Friday. Some forecast models also give us highs in the 60s next weekend.
