Excellent voting weather across much of the nation

Rain, freezing rain and snow will linger in parts of the Northeast for Tuesday. Rain will fall in the lowlands of the Pacific Northwest while snow falls in the mountains. For just about all the rest of us, Election Day weather will be excellent.

Warmer weather continues

This will be the week to complete those outdoor tasks and maybe get in a few bonus bicycle rides in balmy weather.

For Minnesota, the warmup that began on Monday will kick into a higher gear for Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s in the northeast corner while low 60s should register across the rest of northern Minnesota including Walker to Duluth. A bit farther south, upper 60s should dominate the Tuesday afternoon highs including the St. Cloud area and also southeastern Minnesota.

Highs in the 70s should prevail from parts of the Twin Cities to southwestern and much of south central Minnesota.

The Twin Cities forecast for Tuesday is for sunny skies, highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, and a south breeze of 10 to 15 mph. The average high for this date is 49. The record high is 74.

More of the same into the weekend

Much higher-than-normal temperatures will continue well into next weekend.

Transition day Sunday

Sunday should bring the arrival of periods of rain and maybe some snow ahead of a strong cold front attached to a powerful low pressure system that will blast us with dramatically lower temperatures beginning on Monday. Welcome to the fickle month of November.
