Record warmth likely Friday; very warm weekend, then much colder

Our outstanding week of non-Novemberlike weather will continue for Friday. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the 60s across most of northern Minnesota and 70s to low 80s in the south. The northwestern corner of the state will be a bit cooler with highs probably in the upper 50s around Hallock, Warroad and Roseau.

The Twin Cities record high for this date of 73 (1893) is likely to be broken. A gusty south wind should push the afternoon high to about 75. The average high for this date is 47.

West-central and southwestern Minnesota will be the warmest parts of the state with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Gusty winds and dry dew points will increase the risk of wildfires mainly Friday afternoon.

Mild but breezy weekend

This crazy warmth will hang on for the weekend. But that will be the end of the line. Complete those outdoor tasks by Sunday.

Much colder next week

A cold front from the northwest will plow into Minnesota with rain and then much lower temperatures for all of next week. Note the abrupt pattern of lower high temperatures to be approaching on Monday.
