Much quieter weather has returned across Minnesota after Tuesday’s snow, with more sunshine, and only light precipitation expected in northern Minnesota.

Tuesday’s snowfall impacted most of the state, from southern and central Minnesota, up through the Arrowhead. The highest amount of snow was near Brainerd, with a couple reports of 9 and 10 inches. There were also similar totals near Grand Rapids. 

For the Twin Cities metro area, there were many reports of 4 or 5 inches, although the east side of the metro missed much of the snow.  

Even though skies have cleared, be prepared for lingering slick spots Wednesday morning. 

As the snow moved out late Tuesday, skies cleared quickly, allowing temperatures to drop overnight. Because of this, most of the state is starting off Veterans Day in the teens and low 20s, although a couple spots in northern Minnesota dropped into the single digits. A few of the areas which saw significant snow, such as Brainerd and Hibbing, have light fog to start the day.  

Considering the chilly start, temperatures rise reasonably well, to the mid-30s north and a few 40s west.  

This is near to slightly below average for the middle of November. 

Most of the state starts the day with plentiful sunshine and stays sunny through the day.  However, northern Minnesota can expect more clouds in the afternoon, along with light snow as an area of low pressure starts moving in. 

A little rain could mix in with the snow during the afternoon, when temperatures are above freezing. Snow totals will predominantly stay under an inch.

That low pressure also brings a cold front across the state from late Wednesday through Thursday morning, bringing more of the state light snow chances Thursday. That extended forecast will be updated around 9:30 a.m.
