Below average temperatures for Tuesday

Light winds minimize any wind chill

Temperatures stay chilly Tuesday under sunny skies.

Tuesday’s forecast

Behind a cold front that moved through Monday, and now under the influence of high pressure, skies were mostly clear overnight.

The combination of colder air and few clouds to insulate the state mean Minnesota is starting Tuesday cold, with most of the state in the teens or single digits. Highs will also be about 5 to 10 degrees below average, with highs in the 20s north and 30s south.

However, mostly clear skies make for a sunny day, and winds stay relatively light, so wind chill will not be much of a factor.

By Wednesday, a shift in the winds ushers warmer weather back across the state. That extended forecast will be updated by 9 a.m.
