After a chilly day Tuesday, temperatures soar by Wednesday, with 50s and possibly a few 60s in southern Minnesota.
Precipitation stays limited, although some rain and snow is likely during the weekend.
Tuesday’s forecast
Minnesota is starting Tuesday chilly with temperatures in the teens and single digits thanks to a combination of colder air behind a cold front and clear skies that allowed overnight temperatures to drop even more.
Highs will also be about 5 to 10 degrees below average, with highs in the 20s north and 30s south.

However, thanks to high pressure, skies remain clear and mostly sunny, and winds stay relatively light, so wind chill will not be much of a factor.
Turning warmer
Overnight Tuesday, winds start to shift around to a more southerly pattern. It will be windy Wednesday, but that warm south and southwest flow ushers in much warmer weather.
Wednesday and Thursday, highs across the state will be mostly in the 40s, with a few 50s south under dry skies. There could even be a couple 60s, with the best chance being in southwestern Minnesota Wednesday and the southeast edge of the state Thursday.
By Thursday the warm pattern starts to shift, and Friday turns more seasonable again with 30s north and 40s south.

Precipitation stays limited
Most of the week remains dry with couple exceptions. A weather disturbance on Friday brings a very light rain and snow chance during the day, particularly for central and northern Minnesota. No significant accumulation is expected.
Over the weekend, a storm that stays south of the state will also bring rain and snow mix to southern and possibly central Minnesota, especially Saturday.
This will be lighter precipitation for most areas, but with the track of the storm, precipitation gets heavier farther south. It currently looks like southeastern Minnesota will get the most wet weather, with a rain and snow mix that could linger into Sunday.
