A cold front drops temperatures Friday, then another disturbance brings a chance for flurries by Saturday.
Friday’s forecast
A cold front moved into northern Minnesota Friday morning and will continue through the state in the afternoon. Still, temperatures remain above average for December.
Morning lows were in the teens north and 20s for the rest of the state. Afternoon highs will range from 20s north to a few 40s in western Minnesota, which is 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Thursday.
As an indication of how mild Minnesota has been, even with the temperature drop, the entire state is still above average.

The front also keeps a few clouds across the state, but there will still be plenty of sunshine as well.
Flurries possible, then dry again
Most of Minnesota had been very dry recently. While not a record dry stretch, it has been over a week since many locations have had any precipitation.
A weak disturbance moving across Minnesota Saturday could break that trend, with a chance for sprinkles during the day and a few flurries in the evening and overnight hours.
It is expected to stay very light, so much of it might not be officially measurable to end our dry streak, but it is at least a little break in our otherwise quiet pattern.
That disturbance also brings in a few more clouds, but already by Sunday the majority of the state is right back to mostly sunny and dry skies that persist much of next week.
Mild weather continues
Temperatures stay slightly above average through the weekend, with most of Minnesota seeing highs in the 30s.
Then, by the middle of next week, even warmer air returns, pushing temperatures into the upper 30s north, most of the state in the 40s, and even a couple 50s are possible south.

Enjoy that mild weather while we have it, because it currently looks like colder, more seasonable weather could make a comeback by the end of next week.
