Temperatures soar 15 to 25 degrees above average

Statewide sunshine returns across Minnesota Wednesday, and it brings warm weather along with it.

Wednesday’s forecast

Wednesday is starting off mild, with lows varying from the 20s north to 30s south. Given that high temperatures this time of year mostly range from the low to upper 20s across the state, that puts Wednesday morning lows already warmer than our average highs.

Thanks to plentiful sunshine, most of the state makes it into the 40s by Wednesday afternoon, with a few 50s southwest.

This brings temperatures 15 to 25 degrees above average and makes it the warmest day of the week for much of the state. Western Minnesota has already been under warmer, sunnier pattern much of the week, so this continues the mild trend there.

Skies stay predominantly dry and clear all day, except for the northern edge of the state, where a disturbance moves light snow across the area from late Thursday into Friday morning.

Another snow chance targets southwestern Minnesota by Friday, and temperatures drop significantly by the weekend. That extended forecast will be updated by 9 a.m.
