The official high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 52 degrees on Wednesday, 23 degrees above average for this time of year. We’ll flirt with 50 in the Twin Cities early Thursday afternoon. Metro area temps will drop a bit by the middle of the afternoon.
Cooler temps on tap for the weekend
Saturday highs are forecast to reach the mid-30s in parts of the the metro area. Highs in the 30s are expected in roughly the southern half of Minnesota and most of western Wisconsin:
Northern Minnesota will see Saturday highs in the 20s.

Back to temperatures, Sunday highs will be in the lower 30s in the Twin Cities and much of southern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin:
Northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin will see highs in the 20s.
Sunday wind gusts are expected to be 10 mph or less, and most areas will have some sun on Sunday.
Flake chances?
A snowstorm could drop several inches of snow on parts of Iowa and far southern Wisconsin Friday night into Saturday. At this point, it looks like far southeastern Minnesota could be clipped by light snow.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon:
The NAM forecast model doesn’t show any snow in southeastern Minnesota, but some models do show a bit of snow in the southeastern corner of Minnesota Friday night or early Saturday.
The best chance of significant snow stays well to the southeast of Minnesota:
