So far this January, only a trace of snow has been tallied at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. We could see a stray flurry overnight and Sunday morning, but no big storms are in sight.
Texas snow
Texans are bracing for a snowstorm. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from Saturday evening through Sunday evening:

Snow lovers in Minnesota will have to be patient. I did see plenty of cross-country skiers enjoying our current snow cover in St. Paul Saturday afternoon.
Northeastern Minnesota has the deepest snow cover right now. The Thursday snow depth map from the Minnesota State Climatology Office shows at least 4 inches of snow cover in most of Minnesota, with 8 inches or more in northeastern Minnesota and parts of north-central Minnesota:
Parts of southwestern Minnesota have very little snow cover.

Sunday forecast
Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see some areas of fog and patchy freezing fog Saturday night and Sunday morning. A few stray flurries are also possible.
Highs in the upper 20s to around 30 are expected across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin on Sunday, with some lower 30s in southwestern Minnesota:
Sunday afternoon wind gusts will be in the 12-17 mph range in western and northern Minnesota, with lighter gusts elsewhere:
Plotted winds are in knots, with 12 knots equal to around 14 mph.

The coming week
Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 23 degrees this time of year. Mild (for January) temps are expected this coming week. Metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 30s on Monday and Tuesday, followed by upper 30s Wednesday, mid 30s Thursday and upper 20s on Friday.
No big storms are expected, but the metro area could see a rain shower or snow shower Wednesday night or Thursday.
