Morning temperatures across the state are ranging from 15 to almost 40 degrees above average Monday morning, and highs will also be mild for January.
Monday’s weather
Monday morning is starting off very mild, with most of the state seeing temperatures in the 20s. This is about 15 to 35 degrees above average and means most of the morning lows are already warmer than our average highs for mid-January.
In International Falls, for example, temperatures hovered near 30 through the overnight, almost 40 degrees above the average low for Jan. 11 of minus 7.
Winds are out of the southwest to start the day, shifting more westerly through the day, and those warm winds help to push highs into the 30s for almost the entire state.

A few 40s are even possible in the southwestern corner of the state.
It will stay mostly cloudy Monday, but there will still be some breaks of sunshine, especially in southern Minnesota.
Temperatures stay well above average most of the week, with a chance for snow later in the week. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
