Weekend forecast: Temps rebound; mostly dry with a spotty shower chance

Mildest temps on Sunday

Our Minnesota fishing opener is Saturday. That’s the latest possible date for it, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources:

Fishing seasons open for walleye, bass, northern pike and lake trout on Saturday, May 15. This year’s date is the latest possible opener under Minnesota statute, which sets the fishing opener as the Saturday two weeks prior to the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

Rain chances today and this weekend?

Parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see showers at times this Friday afternoon and evening, with a chance for a few scattered thunderstorms in western Minnesota. Spotty showers are possible on Saturday, with an isolated afternoon thunderstorm chance.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s High Resolution Rapid-Refresh (HRRR) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from midnight Friday night through Saturday afternoon:

We might also see spotty showers Sunday afternoon and evening.
