In January, we sometimes dream of summery warmth. Our Saturday temps and dew points will be more typical of July than May.

Our average Twin Cities high temperature on May 22 is 71 degrees. We’ll be way above average this Saturday, with much of the metro area topping out around 90 degrees. A few spots in central Minnesota could also touch 90, with highs mainly in the 80s elsewhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

There’ll be a few 70s and upper 60s in far northwestern Minnesota.

Most areas will have dew point temps in the sticky 60s:

Sunday high temperatures will range from the 50s and 60s in far northern Minnesota to the lower 80s in the far south:

Some spots in the Twin Cities metro area could touch 80.

Sunday dew points will range from the very comfortable 30s and 40s in far northern Minnesota to the sticky 60s in the south:

Northern Minnesota could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms Saturday morning and afternoon. Some periods of showers and thunderstorms are possible across all of Minnesota and western Wisconsin Saturday night and Sunday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon:

Pay more attention to the general rain depiction (north Saturday, then more areas Saturday night and Sunday) than the exact location of the rain.
