The temperature briefly touched 80 degrees Sunday afternoon at MSP airport. The Twin Cities metro area will probably reach the summery 80s the next two days. Our average high this time of year is just 72 degrees.
Many locations will top out in the 80s Monday afternoon:
There’ll be some 60s and 70s in northeastern Minnesota.
Dew points will be in the sticky 60s in most of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

Thunder chances
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will linger into Sunday evening in parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The winds aloft are very light, so any thunderstorms that develop will move very slowly and a few spots could see localized flooding.

Additional areas of showers and thunderstorms will develop on Monday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s High Resolution Rapid-Refresh (HRRR) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Monday and Monday evening:
The NWS Storm Prediction Center shows a marginal risk (shaded dark green) of severe weather Monday and Monday night for much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
Marginal risk means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible.
The Storm Prediction Center updates the severe weather outlook every few hours.
Temperature trends
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 80s Tuesday. Comfortable dew points return by late Tuesday afternoon and then linger for several days. The metro area could see high temps in the lower 70s Wednesday, followed by mid 60s Thursday and upper 60s on Friday.
Temps next weekend and into the start of the following week may be near normal or a bit above normal. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a slight tendency for above-normal temps in much of Minnesota and Wisconsin from May 29 through June 2:
