Overnight showers and thunderstorms dropped varied amounts of rain around the area. My garden in Minneapolis picked up a welcome quarter of an inch.
A cold front crossing Minnesota marks the leading edge of much drier, and then much cooler air. High temperatures on Tuesday will be in the upper 70s in northeastern Minnesota and low to mid 80s in central and southern sections. Northwestern Minnesota will feel a cooling west wind and falling temperatures.
Windy conditions Tuesday
A wind advisory has been posted for much of northwestern and west-central Minnesota, from Rosseau south to Fergus Falls, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday for winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts to 50 mph in open areas.
More thunderstorms?
Scattered thunderstorms might develop during afternoon heating in the northeastern and southeastern corners of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Some storms could become strong or severe, especially over the northwestern half of Wisconsin.

Much drier, then much cooler air coming our way
High temperatures Tuesday afternoon should range from the upper 70s in northeastern Minnesota to the mid 80s in the Twin Cities and the south. The arriving cold front will bring falling temperatures to northwestern Minnesota during the day and will bring all of us much drier air.
The Twin Cities should have a high temperature around 85, well above the average high of 72. Dew points that have been well into the 60s recently will plummet to the very pleasant low 50s during the afternoon.
April in May
Wednesday will be a real keeper with pleasant temperatures and low humidities. Highs will be mainly 50s in the north and 60s in central and southern sections. The Twin Cities should have a high around 66.
Chilly rain will come our way on Thursday as a major spring storm tracks across the middle of the country. Rain is likely in our state, especially across southern and central Minnesota. High temperatures will be held to the 50s just about statewide.
Temperatures will then rise gradually from Friday through the Memorial Day weekend. Scattered spring showers are possible each day.
Overall however, by far the bulk of any upcoming rain over the next week is forecast to fall to our south.
