I’ll get to the weekend forecast shortly, but first here’s an update on our Thursday afternoon and evening weather. 

The risk of severe thunderstorms has shifted into southeastern Minnesota and portions of Wisconsin for the remainder of Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. 

The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a marginal risk (shaded dark-green) of severe weather this afternoon and evening in southeastern Minnesota and parts of west-central Wisconsin:

Marginal risk means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible. 

The yellow-shaded area in southern and central Wisconsin has a slight risk of severe thunderstorms, meaning that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible this Thursday afternoon and evening.

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 81 degrees this time of year. The metro area will see Saturday highs in the lower 80s. Many spots in central and southern Minnesota will have Saturday highs in the lower 80s, with some upper 70s in parts of northern Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

Saturday dew points will be in the 50s, so it’ll feel summery:

Sunday highs reach the lower 80s in many areas, with 70s in far northern Minnesota:

Sunday dew points will be mainly in the 50s:

Most of Minnesota could use some rain. We’ll have a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday, with many dry hours each day. 

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon:

Pay more attention to the scattered nature of the rain than to the exact location of the rain in the forecast loop.
