The Sunday afternoon high temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 83 degrees. Our average Twin Cities high is 82 degrees this time of year. It felt nice and summery, and similar weather is on tap as we start the week. 

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue into this Sunday evening in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. With drought conditions lingering in many areas, I’ll bet that some folks are hoping to see some rain.

Northern Minnesota could see some areas of showers Monday morning, then scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible anywhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin Monday afternoon and Monday evening.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Monday and Monday evening:

Pay more attention to the scattered nature of the rain on Monday than the exact location of the rain.

Forecast models show scattered rain opportunities on Tuesday and also late on Wednesday.

Monday highs will be in the 80s in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with some 70s in parts of far northern Minnesota:

Monday dew points will be in the sticky 60s in many locations, so it’ll feel summery:

Back to high temperatures, Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 80s Tuesday, then mid 80s on Wednesday. We’ll have highs in lower 80s Thursday and mid 80s on Friday.

Temperatures will tick a bit upward next weekend, with Twin Cities highs near 90. The warm weather will probably continue into the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temps in Minnesota and western Wisconsin from July 3 through July 7:

Portland, Oregon set a new all-time record high on Sunday:

Seattle and Portland had not yet reached their Sunday high temps when those tweets were posted. 

Excessive heat warnings will continue for several days in Washington, Oregon and parts of Idaho:
