Warm, dry start to July. Then a hot weekend

Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny, warm days with little humidity and light winds.

High temperatures on Thursday will be mainly in the 80s but cooler in the Arrowhead and northwestern Wisconsin as the wind will be coming in off Lake Superior.

Friday will be in the 80s just about statewide except for some low 90s in the west. The Twin Cities will have highs in the upper 80s both days.

Hot holiday weekend

Heat will build for the Fourth of July weekend. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to mid-90s Saturday and Sunday, including across northern Minnesota. Monday will be cooler, especially in northwestern Minnesota

Mugginess will increase on Sunday.

Most of the weekend will be rain-free. However, an advancing cold front has the potential to fire off a scattering of thunderstorms on Sunday.

Heat relief next week

Next week will become less hot. Rainfall is likely to be sparse except maybe about Thursday when a low pressure system might trigger thunderstorms. Forecast models have been rather uncertain about rain chances after the holiday weekend.
