The Saturday high temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was a pleasant 78 degrees. That was slightly above our average Sept. 4 Twin Cities high of 77 degrees.
We enjoyed plenty of afternoon sunshine across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Scattered showers and a few embedded thunderstorms popped up by late afternoon in the northern third of Minnesota and in far northwestern Wisconsin. That scattered activity will linger in those areas into early Saturday evening, then it’s expected to dissipate after sunset.

Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin won’t see any rain on Sunday. Scattered showers are possible in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin late Sunday afternoon and into Sunday evening.
An approaching cold front could ignite some scattered showers and t-storms Monday evening in northern Minnesota. That chance of scattered showers/t-storms could spread into parts of central Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin during the overnight hours of Monday night.
Temperature trends
Sunday highs will be in the 60s in roughly the northern third of Minnesota, with 70s elsewhere:
Sunday dew points will be in the comfortable 40s and 50s:
Labor Day high temps reach the 80s in west-central and southwestern Minnesota, with mainly 70s elsewhere:
Parts of far northeastern Minnesota could top out in the 60s.
Monday dew points will be in the 40s and 50s:
Back to high temperatures, Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 70s Tuesday, followed by mid 70s Wednesday and Thursday, then upper 70s on Friday.
We could top out around 80 next weekend, and above-normal highs could linger into the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temps in Minnesota and western Wisconsin from Sept. 12 through Sept. 18:
