Most of Minnesota sees limited rain chances through the weekend

Temperatures turn slightly cooler mid-week only to rebound by the weekend. Skies stay mostly sunny, with the best precipitation chances in northern Minnesota.

Tuesday night and Wednesday

Behind a cold front that swept through Minnesota early Tuesday, winds were gusty Tuesday, with much of the state seeing gusts over 30 mph. Those winds diminish during the overnight, although it will still be somewhat breezy through Wednesday.

Lows Wednesday morning will be fairly seasonable, with most of the state in the 50s.

However, under a continued cooler wind flow from the northwest, the highs drop a couple degrees cooler versus Tuesday, with most of northern Minnesota in the 60s Wednesday and low 70s west and south.

Much like the recent trend, sunshine will be widespread Wednesday except for in northern Minnesota. 

Enough lingering instability stays in place around the Arrowhead (still from the storm and low pressure that brought Tuesday morning’s cold front) for a few more spotty showers or storms there Wednesday afternoon.

Extended forecast

Much lighter winds are expected Thursday, and by Friday a southerly wind flow returns. This turns highs warmer across the state late-week, from the mid-70s to low 80s.

Another cold front moves through, dropping highs back in the 60s and low 70s by Sunday.

Meanwhile, rain stays limited, although a disturbance is likely to bring light rain and isolated storms to northern Minnesota late Friday into early Saturday, with the best chance for accumulating rainfall in the Arrowhead again. 

Most of the state stays predominantly dry and sunny through the weekend.
