The Saturday afternoon high temp was 79 degrees at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. That was a bit above our average Sept. 11 Twin Cities high of 75 degrees. We’ll be a bit cooler on Sunday.
Saturday night rain and thunder chances
Scattered showers will spread across parts of northern and central Minnesota Saturday evening and overnight Saturday night.
Some scattered showers and thunderstorms will spread across portions of southern Minnesota and into parts of Wisconsin late Saturday evening and overnight Saturday night. A shower or thunderstorm could also clip the southern part of the Twin Cities metro area overnight Saturday night.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center shows a marginal risk (shaded dark-green) of severe weather Saturday evening and overnight Saturday night in south-central and southeastern Minnesota and on into portions of Wisconsin:
Marginal risk means that an isolated severe t-storm is possible.

A few lingering showers are possible Sunday morning in southern Minnesota and southern Wisconsin.
Monday and Monday night rain chances
Areas of showers and thunderstorms will spread across Minnesota and western Wisconsin from Monday afternoon into Monday night.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning:
We’ll also have a chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening.
Temperature trends
Sunday highs will be in the 60s across the northern third of Minnesota, with 70s elsewhere:
Sunday dew points will be in the comfortable 40s and 50s:
Back to forecast high temps, Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 70s on Monday, followed by lower 70s Tuesday, mid 70s Wednesday and around 80 on Thursday. Highs then retreat to the mid 70s on Friday.
Above-normal temps are expected next weekend and into the beginning of the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temps in Minnesota and western Wisconsin from Sept. 17 through Sept. 21:
