Yep, the fair month of October is now in our rearview mirror. Temperatures across Minnesota ran well above normal for most of the month until our abrupt cooldown for Halloween. The Twin Cities clocked in at 6.1 degrees warmer than normal. St. Cloud posted similar numbers. Enough rain fell that most of the state saw improving drought conditions and a rise in stream levels.
Now November is upon us with much cooler temperatures, periods of gray stratus clouds and maybe some rain or snow showers.
Cool Monday with widespread clouds
Monday has brought thickening clouds and a chilly northwest breeze in the cyclonic swirl on the backside of low pressure centered over eastern Canada. Some spots in northern Minnesota such as Duluth, Ely, Cook and International Falls reported snow showers or flurries. Afternoon temperatures in the low 40s In the Twin Cities were well cooler than the 50 degrees that is the average high for this date.
Continued chilly through midweek
Monday night will bring clearing skies for central and southern Minnesota and many low temperatures in the 20s. The Twin Cities should dip into the upper 20s with mid-20s likely away from the urban core. Clouds and scattered snow showers should continue over the Arrowhead.

High temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday will be mainly from the mid-30s to low 40s from north to south. Scattered light snow showers are possible again in the Arrowhead.
Then warmer toward the weekend
Warmer air will track our way from the south beginning on Thursday. Warmer-than-normal high temperatures in the 50s are likely from Friday through the weekend and probably into next week, as well, for most of the state while some highs in the upper 40s might linger in some northern sections.
Dry weather expected
Prospects for rain or snow appear minimal over the next week. Some forecast models have been hinting at possibilities of light rain in northern Minnesota on Saturday but the chance of anything significant appears slim.
Mild next week?
Longer-term models are indicating that mild temperatures are likely to hang around well into next week.
