Gusty winds bring warmer highs Tuesday

Ahead of a strong storm, Minnesota sees gusty winds Tuesday that also draw warmer air back across the state.
Tuesday’s forecast
The winds from the southeast that Minnesota began seeing Monday increased overnight, and that warm flow has the state off to a mild start Tuesday.
Morning temperatures are in the upper 20s and low 30s, which is warm for mid-November.
That wind pattern is because Minnesota is currently in the warm front side of a strong storm that does not have a lot of precipitation with it but will bring gusty winds through Thursday and cause some major temperatures changes.

Through early Tuesday afternoon, gusts will top 30 mph for most of the state and be over 40 mph south. This has much of southern Minnesota in a wind advisory for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Winds diminish some in the late afternoon and evening before increasing again on Wednesday.
The warm wind flow puts highs above average for all of Minnesota. It will be only a couple degrees above average north, with highs still in the 30s, but in southern Minnesota, under the gustier winds, highs in the upper 40s will be 5 to 10 degrees above average.
Southwestern Minnesota will make it into the 50s, with a couple isolated 60s possible.
This warmup is despite little sunshine, under mostly cloudy skies.
The cold front of the storm moves through by late Tuesday, sending temperatures dropping again.
