Sunday brought the roar of a fierce northwest wind bringing lower temperatures to Minnesota and Wisconsin. The official peak wind gust in the Twin Cities Sunday afternoon was a leaf-swirling 53 mph. Winds diminished considerably overnight.
No weather impacts on Minnesota and Wisconsin travel this week
The main weather factor for the upcoming week is that travel conditions will remain unimpacted by adverse weather across Minnesota and Wisconsin through Thanksgiving weekend. Temperatures swings will be in play, however.
Crisp Monday
Winds will be quite light for Monday, which will be most welcome as the air is definitely on the chilly side. Temperatures fell into the teens statewide Monday morning with some single digits being reported to the north. The Twin Cities fell into the teens for the first time since March 2.
Afternoon high temperatures will be in the upper 20s in far northern Minnesota, 30s for most of the state, and some low 40s in the southwest near the Buffalo Ridge. The Twin Cities should have a high around 33 with a light southwest breeze of just 5 to 10 mph.

Scattered flurries are likely, mainly across northern Minnesota.
Warmer-than-normal Tuesday
Tuesday will be quite mild for late November, thanks to a gusty south wind. Afternoon temperatures will warm well above seasonal normals. Highs should range from the mid-30s in the northwest to 40s for most of the state and some afternoon temperatures well into the 50s in the southwest. The Twin Cities area should see high temperatures topping out in the upper 40s with that south wind gusting to around 30 mph.
Wednesday, a day of transition
Our recent weather pattern has been one of warmups followed by sharp cooldowns, courtesy of the Canadian prairies. Such will be the case on Wednesday as the wind swings around to the northwest, the mild air heads for the Lower Great Lakes and our temperatures drop.
Cold Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving will be on the chilly side, although sunshine should brighten the day. Highs will be held to the teens in northern Minnesota and 20s for the rest of the state. The Twin Cities should see a high in the mid-20s with a bit of lingering northwesterly breeze.
Milder for the weekend
Look for temperatures to recover gradually late in the week and lead to a pleasant weekend with temperatures reaching or exceeding seasonal normal.
More mildness next week into early December
The temperature outlook for next week, Nov. 29 through Dec. 5, calls for warmer-than-normal conditions for much of the country, including the Upper Midwest.
