Our Sunday afternoon weather won’t interfere with outdoor activities. Most areas will have ample sunshine. Highs will be in the 30s across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A few spots in far western Minnesota could even top 40. Southwesterly breezes will be a bit gusty at times.

Some spots in the Twin Cities metro area could creep into the upper 30s. Our average Twin Cities high is 29 degrees on Dec. 13. Winds will be fairly light on Monday.

Twin Cities highs are projected to reach the upper 30s Tuesday, then upper 40s on Wednesday. A few spots in the metro area could touch 50 degrees Wednesday afternoon. Far southern Minnesota will have Wednesday highs in the 50s. Twin Cities metro area highs for Thursday will be around 40 degrees at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m., followed by falling temps…into the upper 20s by Thursday afternoon. The high on Friday is expected to be in the mid 20s.
Wednesday rain and thunder?
NOAA’s Global Forecast System (GFS) model shows a low pressure system spreading rain (and some snow) into Minnesota and western Wisconsin Wednesday and Wednesday night:
The southeastern half of Minnesota plus western Wisconsin would tend to see periods of rain Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night, with a few claps of thunder also possible. There will probably some snow in northern Minnesota Wednesday evening into early Thursday.

Our average Twin Cities snowfall total for the entire month of December is 11.4 inches. MSP airport has already tallied 14.3 inches of snow this December, which includes 11.8 inches from Friday’s storm.
