Cool Monday; 40 Tuesday and above normal most of the week
Monday will be somewhat cool but not cold. Highs will be in the teens north and near 20 in the south. A big warmup comes Tuesday with highs near 40 in the Twin Cities, 30s north and close to 50 in far southwestern Minnesota.
Teens and 20s Monday, then temps jump
The normal high temperature for Feb. 7 is 26 degrees in the Twin Cities. We’ll see highs around 20 Monday afternoon, just a bit below the normal. Highs in northern Minnesota will be in the teens.
As the warmer air starts to move in aloft, we’ll see midday clouds and a few flurries to the north primarily. A dusting is possible for portions of northern Minnesota.
High temperatures Tuesday will soar to near 40 in the Twin Cities and much of southern Minnesota; 50 degrees isn’t out of the question in the southwest corner of the state and 30s should reach into northern Minnesota.

If we hit 40 in the Twin Cities it will be the first since Jan. 18. Temperatures will be about 15 degrees above normal for most of the state Tuesday afternoon.
We’ll see conditions remain mild after Tuesday, just not quite as warm. High temperatures will mainly be in the 30s in the south and 20s in the north through Friday.
The cold air (purple on the loop below) really stays bottled up to the north until Friday night. Saturday will bring a brief shot of colder air with highs returning into the teens and single digits north.
We’ll also see the chance of snow increase late in the week, especially to the north. The Thursday-Friday system looks to brush the Twin Cities and we may even see a mix of rain and snow. Northern Minnesota into northern Wisconsin could see several inches of snow, however.
