We’ll see our warmest temperatures in three weeks across Minnesota Tuesday afternoon. That was the last time we hit 40 degrees in the Twin Cities.
If we reach 40 Tuesday, it will be our third since Jan. 1, which is right about average for the number of days above 40 to date. Portions of southwest Minnesota will reach 50, where they have little or no snow cover. Even far northern Minnesota should get above freezing Tuesday.
A weak cool front sweeps in later Tuesday. It will only drop temperatures slightly for Wednesday but will create windier conditions.
High temperatures Wednesday will still be mild and above normal.

We’ll also have a few light snow showers and flurries as the slightly cooler air rolls across Minnesota Tuesday night into Wednesday. Little if any accumulation is expected.
The pattern becomes a bit more active as we see another system already move in Thursday into Friday. This system is more vigorous and contains more moisture. Several inches of snow is likely to fall across northeast Minnesota into northern Wisconsin. The Twin Cities will be on the southwest tail of the track where we could even see light rain mixed with snow showers late Thursday.
It’s too early to throw out snow totals yet for the Thursday into Friday system but we could still get some in the Twin Cities. Behind that system, some cold air will be pulled in for the weekend. Northern Minnesota could be back below zero early Saturday morning.
High temperatures will be back in the teens for most of Minnesota.
We should warm back into the 20s Sunday and potentially even close to 30 again by early next week.
