A cold Saturday, with a p.m. flake chance

Minnesota and western Wisconsin are starting Saturday morning with below zero temperatures. The coldest temps, in the 20s below to lower 30s below zero, are in northern Minnesota.

There is just enough wind to prompt wind chill advisories across much of Minnesota and parts of northwestern Wisconsin.

Wind chill advisories (for wind chills as low as -35) run to 9 a.m. this Saturday in the light-blue shaded areas:

Wind chill advisories run to 11 a.m. in northwestern Minnesota, for wind chills as low as -40.

Wind chill advisories cover portions of northeastern Minnesota until 10 a.m., with a wind chill warning (wind chills as low as -45) until 10 a.m. in the darker blue shaded area which includes Ely, Hibbing and Grand Marais:

Saturday afternoon highs will only reach the single digits in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

Portions of southwestern Minnesota will have Saturday highs in the teens.

Saturday wind gusts will be in the 7 to 12 mph range in most areas:

Forecast gusts are in knots, with 9 knots equal to 10.4 mph.

Saturday p.m. snow chances

Light snow could move into portions of northwestern Minnesota by late Saturday afternoon and then spread southeastward into west-central and southern Minnesota Saturday evening.
