Our Sunday afternoon weather was pleasant, with light winds and plenty of sunshine. The high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 35 degrees, which is two degrees above our average Feb. 27 high temp in the Twin Cities.

Monday highs will range from 20s in northern Minnesota to 40s in far southern Minnesota:
Some spots in the Twin Cities metro area could touch 40 degrees, and a few locations in far southwestern Minnesota will probably top 50 degrees.

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 30s on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by upper 20s Thursday and lower 30s on Friday.
Snow chances favor the north on Monday
A low pressure system will bring periods of snow to roughly the northern third of Minnesota, plus northwestern Wisconsin, on Monday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 2 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday:

Parts of Saint Louis County, Lake County and Cook County of northeastern Minnesota could see two inches or more of snow on Monday.

Portions of northern and central Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, will see some periods of light snow on Tuesday. The Twin Cities metro area will probably be near the southern edge of that Tuesday swath of snow, giving the metro area a chance of light snow.
Late-week weather drama?
A strong low pressure system will tap some Gulf moisture, then move through the Upper Midwest Friday into Saturday. That could bring a mix of snow, sleet, light freezing rain and rain to Minnesota and western Wisconsin Friday and Saturday. Check forecast updates later this week, because travel may be impacted.
