Spring arrived at 10:33 a.m. Sunday, and the Twin Cities saw its first official 60 degree reading of 2022 just a few hours later.
It was interesting to watch the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport temperature readout Sunday afternoon. The temp touched 59 degrees several times, only to retreat. The temperature finally rallied to hit 60 degrees at 4:35 p.m. CDT:
It was our first temp of 60 degrees or higher at MSP airport since Nov. 7, 2021.

Temperature trends
Highs in the 60s are forecast for roughly the southern third of Minnesota on Monday, with 50s in central Minnesota and mainly 40s to the north:
There will be some 30s near Lake Superior. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few spots near the Iowa border touch 70.
Twin Cities metro area highs will reach the mid to upper 60s on Monday, followed by mid 40s Tuesday, lower 40s Wednesday, mid 40s Thursday and around 50 on Friday.
Rain and snow potential
A few scattered rain showers are possible late Sunday night and Monday. Periods of rain are likely in much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin Monday evening and overnight Monday night. The rain may mix with snow or change to all snow from southwestern Minnesota into parts of northeastern Minnesota Monday night into Tuesday and Tuesday night. The Twin Cities metro area may see mainly rain Monday evening through much of Tuesday, with a rain/snow mix Tuesday night and some slushy snow Wednesday morning.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from noon Monday to 11 p.m. on Tuesday:
If cooler air wraps into the system, we could see an earlier changeover to a rain/snow mix or to wet snow in the Twin Cities.
