We’ll have some clusters of thunderstorms in Minnesota and western Wisconsin from Sunday evening through Monday evening. Off and on thunderstorms can be expected, and some areas will have severe weather at times.
A severe thunderstorm watch will continue to 10 p.m. this Sunday in northwestern Minnesota:
The NWS Storm Prediction Center might issue additional severe weather watches for parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night.

Severe weather outlook
The NWS Storm Prediction Center shows and enhanced risk (labeled “3”) of severe weather Sunday afternoon/evening through the overnight hours of Sunday night from southwestern Minnesota into central Minnesota and the Twin Cities metro area:
Enhanced risk means that numerous severe thunderstorms are possible:
The yellow-shaded area on the map could see scattered severe thunderstorms.
Parts of the Twin Cities metro area could see a few strong to severe thunderstorms Sunday night and early Monday morning, with additional strong to severe storms possible Monday afternoon and evening. Check forecast updates.
Memorial Day severe weather outlook
After a few lingering showers and thunderstorms Monday morning, some areas of strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop Monday afternoon and Monday evening. The Storm Prediction Center shows a moderate risk (shaded red) of severe weather in parts of western Minnesota Monday into Monday evening:
Moderate risk the second-highest risk category issued by the Storm Prediction Center. Several tornadoes are possible in western Minnesota anytime from Monday afternoon into Monday evening. An enhanced risk of severe weather covers much of the remainder of Minnesota Monday into Monday night, and includes the western portion of the Twin Cities metro area. The Storm Prediction center shows a slight risk of severe weather Monday into Monday night from the eastern part of the metro area into southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Summery Memorial Day
The average May 29 high temp in the Twin Cities is 74 degrees. We’re expecting metro area highs in the upper 80s this Memorial Day. Highs reach the 80s in many areas Monday afternoon:
Some spots in southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin could top 90 degrees. Monday highs will be in the 70s in northwestern Minnesota and also near Lake Superior.
Dew points will be in the sticky 60s in most areas on Monday:
It’ll feel very summery.
Cooler air returns on Tuesday and lingers the reminder of the week. Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 70s on Tuesday, then around 70 on Wednesday followed by lower 70s Thursday and mid 70s Friday.
